Part 1 - Her Early Life & Spiritual Awakening
Over the past few months, you’ve gotten to know Pastor Bazile and the incredible impact he’s making. Behind every strong leader is often an equally strong partner. Meet Madam Bazile’s, wife and ministry partner of Pastor Gumps Bazile. Here is her powerful story and journey of quiet strength, resilience, and deep faith.
Greetings everyone,
My name is Madam Bazile. It is with great joy that I share a little about myself, my background, and my testimony.
I was raised in a household where both of my parents worked hard as street vendors to make ends meet. I didn’t really have the opportunity to grow up with both of them present, as my mother often traveled for days at a time to sell goods in larger markets. Because of this, my mother eventually decided to send me to live with my aunt in Port-au-Prince so I could receive better care and have someone to watch over me.
Growing up, I experienced a lot of spiritual persecution. I remember one particular moment when I saw what looked like an evil spirit come toward me, attempting to stab me. The terrifying part was that I was wide awake, fully aware of everything happening, but unable to speak. In that moment, I prayed silently, asking God to spare my life. I promised Him that if He delivered me from that dark attack, I would dedicate my life to serving and praising Him. As I recited Psalm 51 in my heart, I was suddenly freed. From that day on, I began attending church regularly and eventually accepted Jesus as my Savior.
Part 2 - Meeting Pastor Bazile & Answering God’s Call
“While actively involved in church and the youth group, I met my husband, Pastor Bazile—though he wasn’t a pastor at the time. I was praying to God about him, seeking guidance. One night, I had a dream where God told me to accept this man into my life, saying he was a good man and His servant.
After we got married, our life was peaceful. I studied to become a secretary but couldn’t find stable jobs. So, I went back to school and became a nurse. But soon after graduating, I had a dream where someone told me that although I had two good degrees, I would never work in either field—I would work only for Christ. I didn’t understand it at the time, and I wasn’t happy about it.
Then one night, I had another dream. I saw myself evangelizing in the village of Cassagne—this was before we even lived in Léogâne, while we were still in Port-au-Prince. In that same dream, the same person told me, “You will go to this village to spread the Word of God.” I received that revelation around 1986, without any idea that we would eventually live in Cassagne.”
